Physical Assessments Available at Aspire PT & Wellness
Because we treat each patient as an individual rather than by injury or goals, we can’t guarantee each of these assessments will be conducted during your evaluation. However, please take a second to review the following so you can be better prepared for your session!
-
Sports Injury Testing
We’ll test sport-specific measures, depending on your area of activity (i.e. swimming, baseball, etc.). This includes general injury assessment, and assessments of strength, coordination, and alignment.
-
Postural Assessment
We’ll take a look at how the muscles in your upper and lower back, neck, and hips work to create your posture. We’ll also evaluate your spine and other boney structures that impact alignment.
-
Gait Assessment
We’ll test for balance and stability, usually by performing walking or running exams.
-
SFMA (Selective Functional Movement Assessment)
We’ll use the SMFA system to evaluate movement patterns for those who have current injuries. These movements are both safe and effective for our assessment, and we will ensure they don’t cause you additional pain.
-
Strength Testing
We’ll use dumbbells, resistance bands, and other tools to help us evaluate the strength levels of each muscle group.
-
Range of Motion/Flexibility Testing
We’ll give you a series of exercises to perform so we can measure the degree of movement in your joints.
-
FMS (Functional Movement Screen)
We’ll use the FMS screening tool to evaluate important movement patterns, which helps us see potential areas of improvement.
Used for individuals with no current pain or injuries.
-
Functional Medicine Consultation
We don’t just target the injury — we help you get lifelong results. We do a deep dive into your behavior, lifestyle, nutrition, exercise, and other factors.
From there, we create a plan to help you reach your goals faster.
After your assessment, we’ll suggest a plan that’s right for you
Taking into consideration the results of your assessment and your individual goals, we will design a treatment plan that is best suited for you. Below are a some of the treatments you may encounter during your visit.
-
Orthopedic Rehab
For patients with muscle, joint, or bone pain/injuries. This includes manual therapy (such as soft tissue and joint mobilization) and therapeutic exercises.
-
Pilates
Pilates is a widely used technique to help support flexibility, mobility, and muscle strength without the use of high-impact exercises.
-
Trigger Point Dry Needling
Trigger points are localized, tight muscles that can form painful knots when overworked. To help release them, a thin, monofilament needle is placed in the localized area. Dry needling is safe and effective.
-
Myofascial Decompression (Cupping)
Cupping uses suction to draw blood to or away from specific areas to help relieve pain. Other benefits include reduced inflammation and improved blood flow.
Each cupping session lasts just a few minutes and feels similar to a deep tissue massage.
-
Nutrition Coaching
Using the power of nutrition, we’ll pair your physical treatment plan with a food-based one as well. This includes recommendations on foods to add/avoid, supplement recommendations, and education around the value of nutrition in recovery and goal-setting.
-
… and more!
Our expert physical therapists also offer joint and soft tissue mobilization, balance and proprioception training, gait training, kinesiology taping, functional medicine consults, and more!
